Book Farm

BOOK FARM is unique
- a farm where books are 'grown'.

Books grow at the Book Farm in three ways:
  1. It is the home of celebrated children's author Jill Morris
  2. It is the home base of Greater Glider Productions, an independent publishing company renowned for high quality materials for children across all media, focusing on the natural environment
  3. It is an educational eco-tourism centre, to which groups of all ages make excursions, using the natural environment as inspiration for writing. Book Farm consists of 50 acres of rolling green hills above the Obi Obi Creek, and six acres of dense rainforest featuring vines, huge hollow strangler fig trees, booyongs, beeches and piccabeen palms.
Walking through the Michael Noonan Rainforest at Book Farm (named after a children's author whose books inspired Jill Morris as a child) is a challenge which awakes imagination in eager writers of all ages. School groups visit Book Farm on school excursions and develop publications of their own. Adult groups meet at Book Farm for workshops with Jill and professional development seminars, or individual manuscript or illustration consultancy.

Writing in the Rainforest Schools which have visited the Book Farm include John Paul College, St Aidan's and St Margaret's schools, Caboolture State School, Petrie Terrace State School, Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Mooloolaba State School, St Joseph's College Stanthorpe, New Farm State School, Manly West State School, Mooloolah State School and Woodford State School, Mountain Creek State School.

Many of the programs involve two or three visits over a period, interspersed by Jill Morris visits to the school, leading to drafting, editing, illustration and publication.
